You are a great story teller, based on my experience in this piece of writing. I felt each line of intense imagery clearly define the story. Excellent writing, great tone and consistent tension. -=ra=-
It is amazing how accidents, or near death experiences can remain with us almost indefinately and make us rethink our whole lifes as if in comparison to the incident of tragedy. You gripped the readers imagination and as the title implied the shock value of the image you portrayed combined with the message in the last few lines were excellant. Well done Axilea.

In my mind's eye, I'm there-- in the movie "Cars" (Disney) and Mater is watching the lights change from green, to yellow, to red, to green again, and ooing and awing over each magnificent change. Here you sit under the x-ray stop light while it flashes: from revealing, to hiding, to half-concealing, to revealing again while we ooo and awwe over the ache of hurt we feel for you.
Mater will tow that old radiator grille over to the blacksmith's for you for free. Smithee'll make you a "grilliant" gown of gold and radiator-red-- maybe he'll use the hood ornament for a little embellishment.
--One heck-of-a ride from the start to the finish line, crashing in mid-scene... Still, it ends on a strong note, though a little "cutting".
Did you know that if you roll tape around your hand, you can pick up those broken fragments without hurting yourself? Yeah. It works. I've some mounted to a board somewhere in my closet... Okay, so it doesn't do much good collecting them in the long run, but you can't just let them lie there! --You can't just let them go to waste like that... They're so colorful... When you mount the tape to the board, be sure to put the sticky-side with all the varigated colors up-- and be careful. These things can poke you, you know...
