That Melody

Plastered jaws host
Crumbling souls stuffed
Right under the crushed solar plexus
Of an unfocused humanity
That screams and yells
Bitterness, submissively running
The rat race.

It’s all misery, really:
Poverty in a Swedish car
Engines that do a smooth work
To cover up shameful denial.
When the soul is poor,
What good are multiple bank accounts?

Helicopters above my head
And cars and know-it-all smiles
All around,
Suddenly bring a smile to my own lips,
Sadness is gone,
Surpassed, bypassed
By quickened steps of the soul.

From my hideout
I stepped out,
Tap-dancing to
A hundred different reasons,
All in tune to contrast
With the cacophony of urban days.

Against the cacophony
And disillusion
Now my mind plays
A comforting melody at night
To strengthen up my days.

Melody? I sing my own wor(l)ds
I write my own (s)core
And sometimes, it is a joyful tune,
Filling the circle of night and day
Like notes on my staff, full, round,
Richer than I ever imagined.

Sing your song loud and strong. Your strength is again very apparent and your distaste for the shallow materialism of today is wonderfully written. Excellent Liz

A nice work Axilea...your thoughts find the melody of life all rolled into one musical view...seeing the simplicity and the complexity of worldly expectations and the finality of ones own understanding of it all...

nice ...

How much more wonderful to find a quiet corner and hum a beautiful, original symphony to an audience of one, than to stand before empty crowds making an off-key clatter of sound aimed only at getting the envious attention of others through its sheer force of noise. I much prefer YOUR melody!

How beautifully phrased and with such emotion all to hear the beat of one's own drum....

As once again you write a song of life including the tragedy and the comedy of what life can be. Your melodic awakening is a gift from some diety we cannot always fathom but know is there...
