A coin in her pocket, like a lucky charm, an old
ghost that would hold her arm, a coin in her hand
that she holds tight, a link.

A supplementary chord, his voice, singing  in the cold
mineral quiet of a limestone quarry.

A link, she thinks, to manage an absence…
with the notes he sings, she knows that he won’t let
silence grow thicker and thicker.

Abandoned places are filled with water
noise and dust are washed away
the quarry turns into a stern lake
a landscape of solitude broken by the echo
whenever there is despair to be drowned.

A supplementary link, an amulet
of muted art deployed
on the edge of an encounter:
the foundation of  her bridge is
the swinging structure of her freedom.

I love the imagery and the conceptual flow of the images connected to the characters. Well done.

The ability to choose brings with it freedom, yet sometimes the "choosing" often becomes difficult...usually because we have "chosen" it to be so...beautiful work, Axilea.

I admire your interesting poem! I take this to be about freedom of choice as to how we accept and then proceed with life. I think this is wonderful "an amulet of muted art deployed"
Blessings,
Christine

The foundation of her bridge............
Oh my, Our roots can become a strong hold of livelyhood and love 'less they be planted in furrows of unforgiving clay. The past then becomes a void filled with the seeds of despair.

You evoke all kinds of thought is your verse, all kinds of wisdom.

I find this poem deeply symbolic; also, it opens the imagination. Nicely done, Axilea. Thank you. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis
