Spidery fingers
Of electric fire
Streak across the sky;
And the darkness cracks and shudders
With thunder's echoes.
As more light plays
From cloud to cloud,
And cloud to ground,
Winds whip the trees
And beat the rain
To a staccatoed frenzy
Against the bedroom window,
Where I stand in awe
Of Nature's power,
My pounding heart filled
With the passion
Of spring.
Such a life-affirming moment,
To feel the power of the storm
Pulsing through my veins!
