Mother o'mine
As you slip away
From this world,
From this time,
I pray you know,
And will never forget,
The love that surrounds you.
You leave us
Rich with so many memories:
Of good times
And not so good times,
Of all those rare and golden moments
That make up the weave
Of family solidarity.
You were not perfect,
Yet you possessed a warm and generous spirit:
Always giving to your friends
And your family,
Often anonymously,
And taking in four-legged strays
Until Father led a desperate revolt.
We all grieve at your passing,
Yet rejoice at the end
Of your suffering.
We know you stand
With the loved ones
Who've gone before,
As one day
When our day comes
We'll stand once more
With you.
Until then, rest well,
Beloved Mother,
In the light of God's love
And the peace of Heaven.
