A wintery mix
Of sleet and rain
Pings
Against the skylights
And coats every surface
With ice.
Birds huddle together on electric wires,
Their bodies insulated
By their feathers
Fluffed against the cold;
Intelligent creatures
They go nowhere in this,
While crazy commuters,
Ignoring the advice of police,
Try to make their way to work,
Only to find their way into a ditch
Or a guardrail.
I watch it all
From the warmth and safety
Of my easy chair,
Watching television
As I sip my cocoa
And wait for the temperature to rise.
I'll go in eventually,
But, I think to myself,
Better late than never.
:) Brrrrr, perfectly captured: we just don't have the sleet. Just a cold, misty rain...and w i n d. I hate wind. Except in the summer, when we need it to break the unending HEAT--well done, Rebecca.
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.
