The night winds blow
With unkempt fury
As lightening rips the sky
And touches the ground
With jagged fingers
Of blue white light,
Followed immediately by
Thunder
Cracking and booming,
Rattling the china in the cabinet
And sending the faint of heart
Scurrying for cover.
A titan weather war
Converges over our house
And I glory in it,
Drawing sustenence from the drama
Of Nature at her most vibrant.
Then, as the storm passes,
And the rains calm to a gentle shower,
My spirit is soothed by the music
Of the drops against the skylights
And I drift easily to sleep
In my bed.
A child of the Earth,
I am one with her.
Lightning and thunder in Winter (they say) usually bodes more snow and colder weather. :) Hope you're ready for it!! LOL Here, in Tecas, all we had was wind - sustained 35, gusting to near hurricane force. The walls were cracking. NICE. NOT!!! LOL A beautiful poem, borne from storm. Well done!
