I see them in me
Those women who went before:
The church ladies
The hellions
The daughters
The sisters
The creative geniuses
Who never found fame;
Each left their mark
On subsequent generations
And through them, on me,
And now
I am forging my own path
In a world vastly different from theirs.
Where will that path take me?
And with whom will I leave my legacy
Since I will have no daughters
Or grand-daughters to carry it on?
Everytime you reach out to another, be giving, compasionate,loving you leave behind a tiny sliver of the "You" everywhere you go, with everyone you meet......
Interesting question - families are not are our only family. There are many ways of giving, leaving important knowledge, skills, reflections, and writing is one. But, is our world really so different... humans are pretty much the same too, don't you think? :-)
