How many more
Must pay the price
For rich old men's
Dreams of vengeance?
How many more
Must die on foreign soil
For reasons clouded
By political controversy?
Whose freedom is now
Drenched in American blood,
And how truly
Are the sacrifices appreciated?
Hard questions to answer
Without appearing unpatriotic;
But I watch the body count climb
And the flag-draped coffins
Arrive pristine from wartorn lands
Where "American" is a dirty word
And I seethe with anger.
September 11th was our agony,
An attack on our soil,
And we have been drawn into their world
Of hate and malignancy;
They've spread us so thin.
Who remains to protect us here at home
Should they revisit us?
There are no easy answers.
I cheered when the statue fell
But now I mourn as "Taps" plays
For yet another hero
Lost to terrorism's cause.
God help us to survive this maelstrom!
Yes, it would be wonderful if we could close our eyes and the world would be perfect and no one meant to harm anyone else, but it seems that world only exists in John Lennon songs and not in the hearts of humans, very thought-provoking poem, it is good you've written it. Blessings, Michelle

The same that "morally outraged" wanted to impeach the cigar-president, are the same that with unmorality lied, cheated and cost the lives of over 4000 soldiers for a few barrels of oil more.
The same "morally outraged" raped young intern boys in Congress.
The same "morally outraged" where caught sexual soliciting in airport rest-rooms.
The same "morally outraged" are telling the Americans that we can be in Iraq for 100 years (that's is how long that oil reserve will last)
That "morally outraged" bunch make me puke.
