It comes
With aching slowness,
Making its way across the days
Like a horseless wanderer
Across the scorching desert,
Only to pass
With bewildering speed;
Gone!
Often in hours,
Leaving me bewildered
By the suddeness of its passing,
And staring into the future
For the approach
Of the small,
Shimmering,
Distant promise
Of the next
