It is all so frustrating
This fight I've fought
For so long,
Trying to earn the approval
Of one person.
Under other circumstances
The concensus would be
That I would be much better off
Throwing in the towel,
But that way leads to failure at best
And death at worst.
Everything is readied for submission
To the almighty insurance company
Except for this one thing,
This one approval
By this one person,
And I have only myself to blame
For her hesitancy;
She asks only that I show her
A measure of impulse control,
And I have achieved half
Of what she requires:
My eating is controlled now,
Yet my shopping addiction
Is as strong as ever.
Heaven help me!
Will I ever achieve recovery?
