I sit here each day
In this tiny office,
My attention focused
On my computer
And the multitude of calls
That come through
The switchboard;
The walls are bare
Save for photos
And sticky notes,
But a single window,
High up,
Long and narrow,
Gives a view
Of bright blue sky
Between terra cotta walls,
And frames the occasional visit
Of a curious bird.
I escape through that window
When the stress
Becomes too much,
Riding the clouds
To a far off land
And watching the changing
Of the weather
From morning to night,
Before returning once more
To reality.
Thread your imagination's umbilical cord through that little window and take nurture from the Universe out there.
When that curious bird comes back...say thanks to your Visitor.
Exactlly the way I like to be, physically in one place while my mind can visit anywhere in the universe, so beautiful told and inspirationally felt...
Be always safe,
Karen

I too spend time staring out of a window at work, and am similarly captivated by the colours and the not-workness of the life of birds, the wind, the weather and so on, going on "out there". But unlike Karla, I'm not so sure the window should be seen as a blessing. Of course it's better than no window at all, but its presence reminds us that we feel trapped, that we are trapped, and that where we are trapped is oppressive and stifling. For me your poem captures these feelings well.
When that curious bird comes back...say thanks to your Visitor.
