Poem Artwork

The long autumn night
Is upon me
With a harvest moon
Lighting my way
Across the dew-wet yard;
I step up into the gazebo
And take my seat
Upon the hanging swing,
Pulling my cardigan close
Against the crisp mountain air
That is laced with woodsmoke
And the whooing of an owl.
Setting the swing to a gentle glide,
I think back on
The day we spent together,
My mind fluttering
From moment
To moment
Like a summer butterfly,
Pausing on each glance,
Each touch,
Each tender kiss,
Until our passionate parting
Just minutes ago.
I wanted you to stay,
But early morning obligations
Denied us
Our first night together.
I sigh
As I think of
The weekend ahead,
My body aching in frustration.
Four days seem so far away.

You've expressed your feeling of longing so well in these lines.

If you aren't using that gazebo...what about waiting there as we share a chilled bottle of Baileys to warm us up until your Beau is back?

Wait, patiently - absence makes the heart grow fonder, it is said - believe it - well penned (and illustrated), Rebecca -

Love the Gazebo! Oh the longing and it just makes time pass so painfully slow, beautiful writing....

Be always safe,
Karen
