Poem Artwork

I've shopped 'til I dropped
Looking for the perfect dress
To wear
When we finally go out
For dinner.
Do  you know
How hard it is
To find
Something attractive,
Much less sexy,
In a size 24?
It's as if
Large women
Are supposed to be
Matronly,
Asexual,
And color-blind,
And I am anything but!
I have breasts
And hips,
And excellent taste
In color,
All of which
I want to display
To perfection;
But how can I do this
When the selections
Presented to me
Are variations of muumuus
Made from funereal
Or 70's furniture pattern fabric?
It's frustrating in the extreme
To feel like a rejected couch
When all I really want,
Like every woman,
Large or small,
Is to feel beautiful
And desireable,
And to see those feelings
Reflected
In her man's eyes.

Find yourself a good fashion seamtress and have a sexy little black number with tiny straps and low cleavage made. Have her fit it perfectly and wear nothing beneath. *Wink*

Wear only high heels and a smile, and he wouldn't care which color any fabric is supposed to be more sexy because he will be running towards you on three legs!!!

Wow. I can relate to this, unfortunately. Whenever I go into Misses department, they have the cutest things, go to Women's, gross. What is it, if you're a little overweight, big boned or matronly, you're supposed to dress ugly? Fantastic poem.

BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO!! This so on point! Every word is true, about how SOCIETY believes we don't deserve to be seen, to show our sexiness. We don't dress like big floral cows because we want, thanks what we have to work with. And the designers who do cater to us "Fluffy", "Push" ladies, are too expensive. Me and all my Hefty clan, thank you!

Society needs to embrace women of ALL sizes, not just the anorexic beanpoles that they seem to push on everyone!! Sad!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(

Boy, I hear you, Rebecca. Either large (ugly) floral patterns or stripes that go sideways or polyester ... GAD. Bad enough we get looked down at (made fun of) because of our size, clothing designers have NO clue and make it worse. Maybe one day they'll learn...one can only hope. :( Excellent write of frustration that many will identify with. Know I do.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
