Crash!
Crack!
Boom!
The stormy drama
Wakes me
From a sound sleep
To find
Two dogs
And a kitten
Piled into bed
Alongside
And atop me,
And as they tremble
I revel
In the blue-white flashes
With their immediate
Cacophony,
Making my pulse pound
Even as I offer
Soothing words
And gentle pets
To calm
My nervous beasts.
Once I had a friend's shepherd dog with me for a month, when he came back the dog wouldn't leave my house, he had found a new friend that had all the time of the world to play and take long walks together, nobody had told me to just ignore him, did they?
Are you sure they weren't there to comfort you. I'll bet you were having bad dreams and they came to your rescue (((smile))) I don't know what I would do without my bookends, probably fall out of the bed. Great write! Thank you.

I love this, Rebecca. Your simplicity and form make this wonderful. I was picturing myself, big chicken that I am, getting my kitty in bed with me, lol. Into my library it goes.
