The sun rises
On another week
And this one is ripe
With promise.
After months without work
An interview offers
My best chance yet
For a new job
And the opportunity
To get my life
Back on track;
So I've spent
Precious funds
On new clothes
And covered the gray
In my hair,
All in the hopes
Of "dressing to impress"
And to make up
For the negatives
In my history.
I so hope
The good Lord
Smiles favorably on me
And grants me the small boon
Of a new job
And a new future
Filled with stability
And good fortune.
