The grayness of the days
With their endless
Rains and snow
Reflect the state
Of my spirit,
For winter seems to linger
Overlong
With its lengthening hours
Of daylight
Illuminating only
The dead grass
And sleeping trees.
February,
To be so short,
Seems eternal
When I am living
For the season's first
Daffodils.
