It's been more than a year
Since I've been sick---
What a luxury it has been!
But now, today,
I feel the tell-tale scratching
At the back of my throat,
And a mild ache
About my head;
Is it the a/c
Chilling me?
Or is it
Something much more
Opportunistic?
If I must get sick
Then let it be
Only a common cold
And not the dreaded strep,
Or flu,
Currently making the rounds.
Tonight I must remember
To stop by the store
For orange juice,
Chicken soup,
And kleenex,
Then think about cancelling
My weekend activities
Because
The sharing of my germs
Would not promote
Good relations...
