I watch you

To approach you.
Should I be bold
And frank
With my admiration?
Or must I
Tread carefully
Through these unfamiliar waters?
And as I stand,
Uncertain of myself,
I watch you step forward
Into the arms
Of a beautiful woman,
I witness the passion
That comes with reunion,
And I catch the flash,
The fire
Of matching
Wedding bands.
Then,
Squelching a cry
Of primal denial,
I turn away
And brutally extinguish
The newborn hope
Within my heart.
