For my sweet Sadie who, in her short five months of life, gave me a full lifetime of love.

Poem Artwork

Thanksgiving,
As the name implies,
Is a time for giving thanks
For the blessings and bounties
In one's life.
While most people
Can count their families
On the list of
Things to be thankful for,
I was abandoned by mine;
But from that I learned
Who my "family" really was:
The friends who stood by me,
The pets who loved me,
Unconditionally,
And even the total strangers
Who so often showed me
Unexpected acts of kindness.
These things are representative
Of God's love,
A love free of ties
That exists
Simply to
Bring happiness.
These, to me,
Are the true ,
And best of,
Thanksgiving blessings.

When we have little, small things can be very important. I admire you for your independence and your willingness to accept and honor those who were willing to help.

Gratitude and thanks are perhaps the noblest of attitudes. Beautifully expressed here. Thank you. John

It's great when we realize the things that are important to us, and be thankful for them.
