Listen.

Can you hear it?

A Blue Jay's shrill call splits the silence.

High above, a kite flaps in a stiffening breeze.

Dark clouds roll in and the air grows slowly thicker.

A Mourning Dove's haunting call echoes with a hollow resonance.

A gentle pitter patter of rain bounces from the tin roof over the garage as if singing a lullaby.

Thunder rolls in the distance and lightening flashes in the sky.

The thunder booms as it moves ever nearer.

Rain falls harder, seeming to roar.

Sharp cracks of lightening resound.

Silence reigns as the storm fades.

Purple Martins frolic.

Sounds of locusts

return to linger,

hanging on

the still air.

Summer

comes

at last

Yes I can JL ... but for us it's bluejays, scrubjays, falcons, and mocking birds that are heralding summer where we live. A fine write! Blessings ...
Richard
