I held an angel, the other night
Newly sent from God
Her little hand grasped my finger
As if it were the iron rod
A soft, sweet smile, crossed her lips
While sleeping safe on my breast
The comfort it gave, gazing on her sweet face
Gave me an ease of peaceful rest
How precious the sight of this new little life
Another pure angel of light
Twas a blessing indeed, to hold her to me
And comfort her in the night
Maternal, the longings, that tugged at my heart
Not felt in a very long while
But when given the chance to cuddle an angel
How could it not? And I smile
So perfect and lovely, this new little babe
Still conversing with heavenly host
As the thought crossed my mind, could I do it again
Could I give all that one needed the most?
Love, unconditional, all of my heart
Most likely, I'd do it alone
But if Father in heaven entrusted me so
T'would be a blessing for one more of my own
*my sn, roberts, friend and his wife just had a baby last week. they had a terrible time, for she had lost several before. finally....blessed. their little daughter is beautiful. just barely over 6 pounds, i got to hold and cuddle her. i missed that feeling of divinity, that bringing a child into the world, always gave me.
i suppose, at my age, it is normal. the closer it comes to the permanent denial of such a blessing.
but, it was a wonderful experience.......love..k

Oh I MISS that feeling... the smell and the way they grasp your finger... Beautiful write. Made me (just for a moment!) want another one. I'm over it now though... lol.
Hi Krissy,
What a beautiful poem. I love holding babies, they are fresh and clean.Truely God sent. Thanks for not cutting my nuts off like most of the rabid dogs did. I appreciate your friendship and would not want to lose it. Hugs and rainbows, Gregg
