the blazing sun in all his grandeur
splitting my emotions like a crystal prism
into rainbow hues of rich diversity
His influence, his presence, his fire
opened each window caressed every surface
His name conjured up the heat of beaches
the refreshment of cool sea breezes
where lovers stroll arm in arm and pause to kiss
The enchantment of dancing to Latin love songs
The magnificence of ocean sunsets
radiating across the horizon of my heart
Unforgettable man, undeniable love
Incomparable beauty of spirit and words
Those words echoed in my electric dreams
with the force of thunder, the power of lightning
and the gentleness of a soaking summer rain
He never knew the times my thoughts took wing
and visited him in the darkness of his discontent
nor could he have heard the sickening sound
of my heart as it fell like a fragile vase
on the rocks of impossibility and distance
He was larger, more colorful, than life itself
