Who Heals The Healer
By La Belle Rouge

tell me this.... if you can,
who heals the healer?

who holds the hand of the one
who held others until they
slipped away into other lives?

who warms the winter
brightens the season of discontent
of the one who dispelled darkness
and chased chills away?

who dries the tears that fall
too often for the pain of others
who brings joy to the one
who has borne the sorrow of many?

who saves the soul of the *sin eater?

who mends the shreds of a heart
torn by empathic beats
that no longer can keep pace?

who will love the lover
and fill the void
emptied willingly of everything
that love has bestowed then stolen?

who cools the fevered brow
of the dying with the cloth of pity
when the dying dies alone?

who tends the grave
of those who have died untimely
at the hand of apathy?

who will mourn the loss of me?

*Legend Of The Sin Eater-The term sin-eater refers to a person who, through ritual means, would take on by means of food and drink the sins of a deceased person, thus absolving his or her soul and allowing that person to rest in peace. Sin-eating is a form of religious magic, part of the study of folklore

I remember an episode of "Twilight Zone," entitled, "Sin Eater."
As I remember, it was a very thought provoking and somewhat scary, but sad account of where saving the soul of the sin eater fell to his son, who then became a sin eater himself.
Excellent poetry again Belle........

Reciprocated love heals the healer...for light intensifies as twin stars in heaven stand out in the emptiness and capture each others energy. In time, death becomes us. So it is written...so it shall be done.

Marvelous, looks like stained glass, which I dearly love. We have painted stained glass windows which we did ourselves when we moved into this house. Just makes the windows look so special. So many questions that unfortunately are left unanswered for now. Great, endearing piece, makes me think of those buried in "Potters Field", forever forgotten souls.....

Be safe,
Karen

As far as I know, a healer never asks anything for himself but always for others. Beautiful poem. Victor

There is a healer to help the healer and will always be. Sometimes there is more than one according to the need. Should you need a healer, I will be there for you, as you will be for me. As each of us should be. All should be healers! Let no one suffer.
LaBelle, you are a healer beyond compare! And a poet that has no equal.

Yes, Belle, I have often wondered just this. I am becoming weary and tired myself. Who does heal the healer? Another healer, another healer, another healer, and on again and again. It is a continuous cycle of recycling healing energy. Do not be afraid to need some healing, we all do every once in a while. It is what makes healing so beautiful.

Peace, Love, and Light,
Amber "V"

This is so poignant and sad that it makes the reader want to reach out and comfort this noble character of old. Very moving and very naturally spiritual.

as my Grandmother used to say..(*she said no such thing, but..) 'bus drivers know bus drivers, teachers know teachers, poets know poets, and healers know healers...' - this is a strong poem by a strong voice who is weary, the healer who is tired and needs to Rest, and allow Big Nature to nurture the spirit - it's the poets, teachers, healers and bus drivers who tend the grave. Good poem La Belle, enjoyed very much, Nicky x
