feet bloody and bruised
more than one heavy load
been used and abused
what can you offer me
tell me, what will you give
to help ease all my pain
make a dead heart wanna live?
what we both need
can only come from above

Darlin Belle... God bless your heart. I have logged on specially to review this as I read down tonight's poetry listings. And yes, it seems we DO share a quintessential passion for an outstanding cinematic moment, made all the more poignant by Meg Ryan and Nick Cage, who are two of my most favourite stage people. For some reason, the message of this film just reaches right into the very depths of my spiritual bone, touching the place where it meets with the emotions. And you have captured Seth and Maggie's vital spark of mutual attraction - albeit across the heaven and earth divide - so well with your lyrics here. Love the form you have chosen, with the tercet and quatrain repeats. And that beautiful five-liner, which, for me, is the clincher... "would you give up the world
and maybe heaven too?"... Isn't that what love that goes soul-deep is about, the moving of heaven and earth on all levels of our human experience? My God, I wish that for each one of us. Or, in the words of Ben Affleck from Armageddon (another hottie! :)) "(I hope that's true... otherwise) What in the world are we trying to save?!" The soundtrack of the film is the icing on the cake for me... and Sarah Mclachlan's voice captures it all... She is my frequent companion on my drives up and down to the coast each week! :)) Thank you, Sweet Belle, for this most beautiful and soulful tribute to the reason why we all live and move and have our being... the divine mystery, phantom at times, of love. YOU are a never failing stream that pours out incessantly to enrich our lives with that very thing we all seek so desperately: the understanding and experience of love. These are great song lyrics and I was caught up in the rythem of it from the very first line. The message is loud and clear as well, once we are hurt a few times we get gun shy and are not quite as trusting as we first were.

Well, this is so "real"..That has been a question for a very long time. Why is it that intelligent women such as us, always fall for the heartbreaker?
