I don’t want your husbands
didn’t know how to handle mine
and I don’t want your religion
mine just plain played out with time
I don’t need your approval
and I can live without your praise
aint none of your business what I do
or how much hell I raise
I don’t listen to your sermons
or judgments without end
but if you could accept me as I am
I’d make a mighty good friend
cause I won’t preach you no sermons
or write you off as bad
your love life can be your own affair
no matter how many romps you’ve had
I don't care about your politics
and what do you care about mine?
all a that stuff is just gonna be
water over the bridge in time
I don't intend to treat you bad
or cause a political war
I'm just here to write my heart
that's what I'm here for

What's the other woman to do? Either: their husbands are cads, or, their women ain't satisfying them, so they stray to warmer waters. :) And many of them are 'Christians'...shame. That's tellin' im in a bold, sassy, clever way. Well done, La Belle!
I wish you would reconsider your position on this taking of one's husband or in my case ex-husband. He doesn't cause any trouble anymore since he was buried a few years back. But you can still have him. It's my understanding that now he should be stiff finally. Lol. I love the sentiment of this poem. It is so refreshing. Just a poem and just be a friend. I think folks needs to keep their damn noses in the middle of their faces and not in other folks business! Hell no, we aint wantin no other woman's sloppy seconds! a modern "i am woman hear me roar" written in such a way that makes the declaration as personal as it should be and yet so poignantly public that no one could resist standing at attention and saluting the banner you wave on high. like a lady, strong and passionate yet feminine all the same. wonderful read!
