the darkness adheres
to the vortex of my senses
so thick fingers touch it
jaded eyes look backward
where life force and hope
hand in hand ran away
past is past and present
affords no promised warmth
thought of future leads only
to the unknown and ......
too dark to imagine the light
yet illuminated to see clearly
jeweled hands holding daggers
scarlet mouths, gapping holes
spewing forth poisonous lies
like hot lava from lips of hell
like malicious bratty children
tormenting a trusting puppy
leaving him dead in the street
you trample innocent blood
frivolous flirtations, cheapen
love's pure essence, intentions
i have seen imitations detestable
using, being used, faux hearts
cheap, words of fire melting away
in cold blasts of cruel adversity
i see through exhausted eyes
that want to turn away from
darkness of your feigned light
deceitfulness, unmasked....

This poem touched me deeply Belle, it brings much to imagination about Life, Love, Friends/etc.! It's filled with a deep dark mystery! I found enticing... but a tinge of sadness...
I've missed many of your treasured writes I see, I am falling behind carelessly... I will try harder to stay with ya'! The way your heart speaks truth, like a real poet! Ah, the ballad of politicians, war-mongers, lawyers, and wall-street bankers...
Belle, It is time to really take care of yourself. This poem shoots me in my heart. If it has any truth, even one ounce, then listen to your inner voice, and take some comfort and care with your heart. You are a beautiful soul, and you must always remember this. I surely have missed your wonderful poetry and your presence here on the den. Here is wishing and praying that you are well and will be here in the comfort and arms of your den family.

Wow...you really hit this one at the core! Ironically, last nite I dreamed you...altho I don't know you...your name kept coming thru my nite thoughts...and so this morning I planned on writing you a short note to ask how you are...then I saw your post...and thought...well, how about that...!! Thoughts that escape into the emotional exposure of love gone array...the heart is an eye opener it can see all that lies before it and it also absorbs all the pain...
Better solitude than poisoned company, better known darkness than false glints of light. A memorable poem.

Rosetta was born in 1909 as the youngest of ten children. The family had more laughter than money and neighbors would knock on their door to ask, "Can we come in and laugh, too?"
