Winter Comes
By La Belle Rouge

Sweet Love,
Cruel Winter is stalking me
I can feel his frosty breath
his cold gray eyes I can see
around my helpless heart
his long frigid fingers close
and I won’t glimpse another
balmy Spring, I suppose

Sweet Love,
I find little warmth now
in old memories of this life
I longed for blessed peace
but fate brought mostly strife
and love was always waiting
a mere a step or two away
Autumn flees before Winter’s day

Sweet Love,
I fear all my wishes are gone
no miracles of mercy anticipated
as I face the blizzard now alone
but if I had only one wish left
that would miraculously come true
I’d wish I could have spent
all my seasons, Love, with you

So sad, La Belle. Sadly love doesn't treat all of us the same and some must, though God only knows why, face the cold of winter, though if it be a failed love, winter might also be summer, for a time without love is a time without warmth.
Sounds like the opening lines to a poem... Hmm, I might even do it. If I do, you will know that it was inspired by you, La Belle.
Your friend, Mark

Sad but yet a wonderful write
I like the fall the best, if we could skip the winter and just have spring summer and fall :)
Oh well winter is on the way
Have a great day

Hope is called that little bird that refuses to go south coming winter and stay near of you. When little bird Hope tremble you should hold it in your hands and press it gentle on your bosom so it can have warmth and hear the soothingly beat of your heart.

Such a powerfully deep piece with a somber tone of a life well lived, yet regrets still seem to linger....

Beautiful write, Belle; as you know, I love winter; prefer winter to the summertime heat that is Texas. Very well penned/illustrated; brava! Love the music!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Love the personal touch you spun within the verses of the changing of the seasons, Belle. That give it a much more intimate, if sad, range of emotions. Very good. Very sad. Very . . . Belle.
