silence isn’t always golden
sometimes it’s dark and cold
there are days I’d give my life
to have an intelligent conversation
about life, death, all things between
or after, the universe seen and unseen
religion, politics, love and lust just anything
interesting to break the long, non-golden silence

Absloutely, Belle. And the worst non-golden silence is the drone of endless spills of words that are like millstones to the mind, drowning it in nothingness and the emptiness of inconsequentialities. I completely agree...good conversation is one of the best highlights in life...although there are days when it is just nice to be alone and think, and just 'be'..However, I like to be in charge of that choice!

When I was mid career I couldn't wait for retirement to come, when it came early due to health reasons even then I thought wow kewl, but when you are unable to do the things you like, can't afford to do new things, and are suddenly cut off for eight or more hours a day from other human voices....there is nothing golden about it.
