Blessed Deer
By La Belle Rouge

today bright sun toasted leaves
fallen beneath kisses of frost

I spied two deer in the woods
absorbed in autumn abundance
of acorns and the last greenery
oblivious to busy highway nearby

graceful, undisturbed by stilled
presence of one observing them

how would it feel to be one of you?
to spring away free into the trees
with no one to restrict your goings
dictate boundaries of your comings?

I would almost be willing to brave
the bullets of winter hunting season
to dart away into a fragrant forest
and discover liberty’s sprinting legs

today I watched you, blessed deer
and vicariously lived your freedom

You have certainly captured the very quiddity of deer, Belle; how they absolutely take our breath away and leave us wondering, caught up in their delicacy of being and mystical, almost shadowy comings and goings. To witness them is akin to magic and we feel a sense of privilege - touched by their gift of innate grace in a troubled world. Beautiful lightness of touch in this piece. xx

A 'graceful' and 'fragrant' piece, La Belle! And the hooves of deers, I always wondered how it felt to run so lightly and over anything. Lovely and loving.

And You "dear" should always
be blessed with the spirit
of the very "deer" whom
you admire..

Belle, a gentle departure from the poet's normal subjects, and I for one enjoyed it. The deer's freedom to roam far and wide, without recognition of the boundaries we humans establish for ourselves for an endless number of reasons does not exist in their world. They seek only the essentials to sustain life, we, seek the esoteric to
keep us in the comfort zones we have established for ourselves. A most interesting rendering that reveals another level of understanding. I wish you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

Deer teach us of their gentleness
and loving nature, we can learn
from these graceful creatures
whom I care for...

Yes, Yes Yes! They are very spiritual creatures. I have often wondered myself what it would be like to be a deer. Somehow around this time of the year, deer are ever so special.
I have load of deer in my area and I always spot one at least once a day.

Lovely poetry as always,
Much peace, love and light,
Amber
