when the snow flies
and deep on the ground it lies
I think of another snowy day
long ago when children would play
snowmen and snow angels alike
much more fun than riding a bike
excitement in the air, flakes on eyelashes
memories growing fonder as time passes
wrapped up and hardly able to walk
around a fire we'd laugh and talk

hot cocoa and roaring fires felt like June
blanket tents and naps in the afternoon
all those children now scattered far apart
but winter memories still live in each heart
somewhere in a basement or antique store
those old snow sleds could tell stories galore
coke sign lies rusting in a ditch somewhere
but our thoughts of it still take us there
