It doesn't matter what else I do
Where I go or what I might see
I'm spending Christmas with you
And that's all that matters to me
Our hearth fire welcomes us home
Lights on our tree sparkle bright
Wherever we may choose to roam
We're home together each night
And home is such a sacred place
Where love and laughter reign
I cherish the smile on your face
We are leaving behind all our pain
Miracles happen, dreams come true
I'm celebrating Christmas with you
Hot coffee and warm blueberry pie
Topped with sweet whipped cream
The holiday hours seem to just fly
As we're living this peaceful dream
A plump turkey bakes in the oven
As music of the season fills the air
I have your presence and loving
Spirit of the season is everywhere
We don't need the festive mistletoe
To enjoy the thrill of a holiday kiss
Love follows us everywhere we go
Christmastime together is bliss
You are my gift, wrapped in love
Sent from the angels up above
It is true that holiday time seems short but then, as I grow older, it seems as though time is speeding up. A very apt and timely write, Belle. Love and best wishes,
DEAR LA BELLE...THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I ENJOYED IT IMMENSELY AND, OF COURSE, YOU KNOW...POEMS OF LOVE AND INTIMACY, AS SUCH, ARE SPIRITUAL FOR ME. HOWEVER, I AM SENDING THIS POEM TO MY DAUGHTER THAT GOT MARRIED IN MAY(SEE 'FIRST DANCE')FOR SHE IS ACTUALLY LIVING THIS! AT 55 SHE, AT LAST...O LORD, AT LAST(SMILE)...FOUND HER TRUE LOVE. SHE HAS CHILDREN AND GRANDS AND SO DOES HE, BUT THEY DECIDED TO SPEND THEIR FIRST CHRISTMAS TOGETHER...ALONE. SO I CAN RELATE TO THIS FINE 'KEEPER' FROM TWO DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW...THEIRS AND MINE. THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING...LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH TO YOU AND YOURS...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS.
You write the best poems on any theme like Christmas. Gobbling up every word. I like the idea of mistletoe, not that it's needed as described in your poem, but because it is sometimes used to spark chance relationships that wouldn't otherwise happen. ;-)
