It's karma, that's what it is
I remind myself of its surety
when all dark cruelty is repaid
and all unjust power is ended
by the just powers that be
in the appointed time allotted
I know it is not I who has
repaid such damage in like kind
I do not bear the blame for it
the iron door has closed fast
destined never to open again
I cannot end your suffering
by inflicting more on myself
all I can do is pray for mercy
and God's comfort for you
I could have loved you...once
but all I can feel now is pity
So true. Sometimes people who are sick often see themselves should be the center of attention and everyone should feel their pains, but in reality it is not so. Soaking up someone's misery like a sponge is not healthy.
