I Still Cry

I don't know why
but I still cry
love died so long ago
all I could do
was just watch it go
but I still cry
and I don't know why

I hoped it would change
but it just never did
needed to rearrange
on decaying, old memories
I can't seem to put a lid

it was hurt after hurt
slight after slight
if you could see my heart
it must be a sorry sight
wounds and scars within
will emotions be normal again?
If they will, I wonder when

I thought you'd change
but you never tried
you filled up my world
with anger and lies
I guess that's why I still cry

you took away my innocent youth
and if I ever needed proof
you took away my children too
insuring they loved only you
I felt nothing but pain
touching your cold, stiff hands
it was over, no more demands

but I still cry, though you are gone
the pain and memories live on
are you happy, wherever you are?
you left me such sorrow and scars
are you happy beyond the stars?

I never wanted you to die
when I heard, how I cried
wanted you to live, that's no lie
it had been my own choice
gave up my rights and voice
I left hoping the tears would go
what you did to me only God knows

it's been a few months, I still cry
they say emotional damage is why
more bad times with you than good
I hoped you would change
but I don't think you could

I'm thanking God for joy and peace
everything changes, tears will cease
I have nothing left of me and you
our children took everything it's true
heartbroken from their words of hate
every cord has been cut, not too late
for a life of love, I don't need to wait

everything is ashes now
like love letters I burned long ago
dust to dust ashes to ashes
sooner or later everything has to go
I loved you once, I hope you know

I CAN RELATE, MY FRIEND. INDEED, IF LOVE WAS REAL, IT TAKES A WHILE FOR THAT 'CRY' TO GO AWAY, WHEN IT HAS LEFT. BUT THANK GOD, MORNING COMES, WITH THE SUN TURNING HURTING MEMORIES TO ASHES AND WE ARE ABLE TO PRESS-ON TO WHAT AWAITS ON THE HORIZON. FOR ME, NOTHING BUT GOD COULD FILL THAT EMPTY SPACE, ONLY HIM. AND THAT'S HOW I STOPPED CRYING. A FINE WORK, SO ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

This poem made me cry tears of sorrow, how strong she must have been to be able to withstand it all and still make peace with her broken soul, you have written a beautiful poem full of tenderness and strength, thank you for sharing.

OMG. This rips at my soul.
I wish I had words of comfort, but this is too
painful to read. I wish you well and better days ahead.
May you find peace.

Deeply emotional write that touches the very essence of heart break and heart ache that lingers through our lives. They say we must look ahead and not back but it is the past that shapes not only our lives but our ability to love.

It's never been that bad for me that I cried and cried. But I do remember crying when I realized that I was alive when I heard a group singing Christmas carols outside my hospital room. But I was crying because I was happy, not sad.

But you let it out in this poem repeatedly like you can't get rid of the pain because somehow it's became part of you and you loved even that pain that was inflicted on you. You have written that you are now alone as a result. That must be terribly painful. I am surrounded by love.

Heartbreakingly raw and honest…
It would be difficult not to be
moved by your words, your story…
Whether fact or fiction, I send you
Love…

La Belle, this was such a powerful piece. I hope this is fiction, but that is the gift you have. You make it seem real even if it is not. Yes indeed, you are the Poetess of the heart.

Beautiful sentiments as you held on to the last hope that he would change. Unfortunately, some people would not change out of stubbornness which hurts all the more for everyone's concern and leads to many disappointments in life.

Sentiments of honesty void of sentimentality. The repetitive nature of this poem works for me due to the nature of crying in waves. I know. I've been there... still am. Well done.
