When You Need Someone
when you are sick, weak, helpless
you discover how much you need him
when he makes meals for you
helps you walk to the bathroom
stays close while you bathe
he catches you if you almost fall
picks you up off the floor when you do
it's then you know, beyond any doubt
he loves you, not for your beauty
or your wit but for your heart
his is joined with
When you don't want food or drink
and the pain is so vicious you just
want to lay in your bed and die
he brings you tea and persuades
you to drink it and when you refuse
he says, "drink it or I'll call 911"
so you drink it to avoid the hospital
and you eat a few bites of the food
he prepares.... you won't die today
because he loves and cares for you
he is there when you need him
when you apologize for being trouble
he says, "I love you, I'll take care of you"
it's then you are assured you couldn't
have chosen a better companion
he is everything you need or want
always kind, patient and loving
giving you the love you deeply need
you both know , if he's ever in need
you will care for him the same way
he has cared for you, this is love, real love

I do hope your health is up to the mark and should you not eat or fine
then he is right to call 999.

In my case, it is she instead of he. And I doubt if there's any way that I can reciprocate in any way except to get her help and stand by her until she recovers while I desperately try to find someone who will take care of me the way she does. I hope that day never comes for both of us.
