Never The Twain Shall They Meet

Parchments purge by countless ages
Among the words of endless pages
Never the twain shall they meet?
Beneath the seam of a canvas sheet

The poet privets with pen and paper
Shall they meet in tales of caper?

Honourable tradition or humble tests
That acquaints itself with the very best

With quivering hand and withering hearts
Where solemn tears are shed with heart
Beside the verse where love departs

Where love is spent upon the cable
Resting now upon a wooden table
Fables lined but never foretold
For the days are long, and the nights are cold
