Fallen Promises

Falling gently like the leaves
Upon the flow of foreign breeze
No noble deeds shall I speak
Now my body has grown tired and weak

Jest I may, and some might say
That I have survived another day
As I watch the children play
Have they noticed how I sway

What light gives way that I might take
Before the day that I will break
No longer shall I hold on for goodness sake
For I am weak and not the sleek
To feel the breeze upon my cheek

The dusty wind on hollowed ground
Borders in my every frown
And who shall come to bear
And show how much they really care

No fallen promises shall I keep
Where now I stand beside the creek
Meek am I beneath the stars
And yet I wonder where you are

Surrender to my gentle kiss
Beside the seal upon this sacred mist
Like burdened fruit, no skin to shed
Other then thoughts within my head

Feel me gently in the breeze
As the leaves fall in the eves
And know that I am here, and it’s not to late
To turn away for goodness sake
