Cobblestones

Awaken tiny sleeping flowers
And reach up for the shining towers
Waters trickle in the brook
Where cobblestones glisten with such a look

The willow shed it leaves in the sun
Where children played and dogs did run
And as the flowers came into bloom
The heaven sounded with a boom

As thunder soared across the sky
I stop to think and wonder why
Why seasons change and come to blend
And how it never seems to end

Season come and season go
Just like the showers and fallen snow
And so we live and so we sleep
Beneath our feet the poppies weep

Where there was shelter in the shed
Thoughts seem to rattle in my head
Contemplating life and what’s to come
As I watch the flowers swaying, in the noonday sun
