Hallowed Light Of Loving Splendour

Well it was early in my life that darker forces consumed me in the night
I was six when it began one November stormy night
It was just after midnight, when I saw the closet open similar to the wind
Then from the shadows came a ghostly reflection of a man in the middle of night

What had caught my eye was the cord between his hands
As I ducked beneath the covers I could feel the grip of evil drawing in
When suddenly it moved away and walked down the hall
As I followed slowly I was aware of what was drawing in

It was in the kitchen I found the waiting spirit
As I watched the objects floating like they were carried by the wind
Then suddenly it turn in my direction as it showed it ghostly grin
Eyes as red as ebbing blood, that broiled in the night

Then slowly as it turned its hand toward the garden near the shed
I felt the fear inside gently, as my breath was turned to dread
When suddenly it vanished like a shadow in the wind
What was it I wondered was it living in its movement or a shadow of the dead

As the nights surrendered I was caught beneath its spell
Called beneath the light of heaven in sense the gates of hell
As the serpent coiled around my spine the demons gathered in
As I witnessed darkened nightmares my light was rather dim

Summoned by evils spirit, I had felt the hand of evil caress my human skin
Stripped of all emotion, love and compassion, I was cast among the grim
To walk among the shadows amid the demons, lifeless form among the winds
Stripped of my entire dignity as they stripped the humanity from my skin

Through eighteen years I walked among the darkened path, it was a dream to walk among the light
Then on an April night in 1994 with a holy man beside me
Among the waters of baptism I felt the Holy Spirit flooding in
Then he fell upon me like a haven in the night, as I felt god among his gentle light

Evil shed its skin in fear beside the lord and his loving light
Thou have felt the hand of god and you are safe to walk among the light
As I exited from the waters I felt the demons purged from me that night
As they pulled the beast from me I was blessed in gentle light

God had not forsaken me, as my eyes were returned from green to blue
As the serpent was purged from my earthly skin
I had dreamed of closure and the day was finally here
I have felt the light of god, and sensed the demons fear

Once I felt the hand of evil and the horrors of the inhuman things they did
No longer would I walk among the shadow beyond the world of earthly things
The first night of the exorcism I slept unlike I ever had before
And as the days passed I could sit beneath the sunlight at the shore
Among the light of heaven, I felt my life return once more
