A little Makes, A Difference

I am a humanitarian, suffice to say
And I wouldn’t have it any other way
What I give is selfless and unselfish true
And as I’m from a shaky city

That was once known as the garden city
I give what I can, through writing not for pity
Art isn’t a form of noble design, we are the ones that intertwine
Written words break barriers, which are never spoken

And my heart ebbs beside the ocean
What of the heavens sky clad blue?
And of the war, and the refugees too
Life never gave them a part of their fate

In refugee camps, they sit and wait
With nothing to eat, no food on their plate
And what of the children among the dust filled sand
They never asked for the drought among their lands

How can I sleep, when there are children with nothing to eat
I may have little myself, but I have something to eat
Even living among the city that seems to be constantly shaking
If witnessing the earth's power, as my world was breaking

Even with nothing, I have substance to share
I hope in my words it shows that I care
World Vision, and the Red Cross are a noble cause
I have heard the cheer of the people applause

As the, aid workers march through our city to answer our cause
And yet my city's a pile of rubble, I can applaud the little things they did
Aid workers see the darkest side, and the staving are the ones among their side
What of the shadows that darken, and besieges their stride
What of the innocent children that have died,

These are not words, that bounce from my tongue
Ebbed are my feelings, for those of the needy
I am not rich nor am I greedy; I hear the whisper of so many needy

Unselfishly with love, I hope my words, express how I care.
As this is my gift to humanity, that I honour to share

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
