Uncle Brian
They say our childhood memories are the vivid ones that stay,
And who am I to argue with that view?
He was Uncle Brian then, and that's how it is today
And I'll tell you why, if that's OK with you?
I can't forget that evil laugh, that funny, twisted wit,
Or the tricks he played when I was just a pup,
He told me I should "Help Myslef" like in that Tom Jones hit,
What he meant by that came clear when I grew up!
I still recall the milk run, it's the highlight of my youth,
As boys, it wasn't work, it was a game!
I drank a lot of Amscol Choco milk then, that's the truth!
That's when Uncle Brian gave me my nick-name.
He was Auntie Joan's companion, their love stood the test of time,
Greg and Russell inherited his attention span!
He was Gail and Jane's excuse when they stepped out of line,
But to me, he was a giant of a man.
The years and miles have come and gone, we've moved along since then,
Although memories of the Allens will always linger,
I'll cry because I'll never see Uncle Brian again,
But I'll laugh because, one time, I pulled his finger!
