My Granddaughter loved to watch me blow the seeds of the dandelion thistles. She called it a "foofy" after the "foof" sound of blowing on the thistle.
Today I saw a foofy where the dandelions grow,
I knew it was a foofy 'cos my Poppy told me so!
Foofy weeds are thistles that are small and rather fluffy,
They grow in Nanny's garden and they make it sorta scruffy.
The best thing you can do if you see some foofy weeds
Is pluck them out and put them where they won't let go their seeds.
But foofy seeds float through the air, that's what my Poppy said,
To make a foofy cloud you have to blow the foofy's head!
And so I picked the foofy and I FOOFED! it really hard!
I watched the foofy cloud as it floated round the yard!
But then a little breeze came by and blew the foofs away
To someone else's garden, to be FOOFED again some day.
A lyrical and imaginative piece that would probably sound very funny when read to a child or adult. Poetry such as this takes a very special mind to bring it to life. Well done Choco. I trust you are working on other childrens poems since you do it so well. I enjoyed this. Bob
A delightful verse any child would love! And to think there are companies and people out there trying to eradicate the dandelion! If they do, how in the heck will I be able to have my dandelion greens and my dandelion wine, not to mention anything to foof!
