Why did this happen to our land?
Why do Towers no longer stand?
Why did we lose our loved ones this way?
Why are we all feeling dismayed?
Why did so many have to die?
Why so many thousands of lives?
Why did we lose heroes that day?
Why are blue skies suddenly gray?
Why does everything make no sense?
Why are emotions so intense?
Why does everything seem so strange?
Why did everything have to change?
Why must we all be terrified?
Why all this nervousness inside?
Why don't we feel safe & secure?
Why don't we all feel reassured?
Why did our world turn upside-down?
Why hit our cities & our towns?
Why HERE, in the United States?
Why was this our Nation's fate?
I can't beLIEVE I missed this!! What a powerful poem; we were all asking "Why" that unforgettable day. We still ask why; I know I do! NEVER forget!! I sure haven't, and I won't! Very well penned; brava!

Excellent write, so intense, you have spoken not only for Americans but for the rest of the world as well. In England we are still shell shocked.
I believe God will avenge the deaths of so many innocent people in whatever way He sees fitting.
