The whole Terri Schiavo thing is a mess. I think Michael wants her dead so he can carry on with his life. If he loved his wife, as he claims he does, he'd be there with her. He wouldn't be two timing, involved with another woman who has borne him children.
Meanwhile, Terri lingers.
I'm sorry, but I can't help my anger. I just had to get this out...been building for days...right or wrong, this is how I feel.

It really is a shame that this has turned into a circus for the media, the governor, the supreme court, and everyone else that has decided to stick their nose in ... I really feel for this human being - God be with her ... thanks for this sensitive write my friend!!
I can certainly understand your frustration and also I appreciate your opinion, but, if all he wanted was to be rid of Terri, a simple divorce would have done the trick. He was a young man, I believe in his late 20 at the time Terri was stricken. As selfish as it may sound, after perhaps 5 years of no improvement and being told that she would never recover, if he were my son, I would have wanted for him to be able to have a normal life. He wanted a family, he wanted a wife; Terri, sadly, would never again be able to be those things for him. He had his settlement, if that is all he wanted, he certainly could have taken that and then filed for divorce, he did not. And what if it was Terri's wish to never be kept alive artificially? We will never know the truth, but if he were my son, I would not want for him to have to walk away from all of his dreams for the sake of a spouse who would never recover. My heart goes out to Terri and her parents. I think that the press has made a big mess of what should have been kept a family matter.

Sis I trul empathiz with you here. I also believe that he found someone else, and now all of a sudden his dear wife means nothing to him. Terri's parents are going through everything they can to save their daughter. But Mr. Michael Schiavo is doing everything he can to kill her.
It seems really strange to me that all of a sudden, after 15 yars, he suddenly remembered that his wife did not want to be kept alive by feeding tube or other artificial means. I think too, that he found someone else, and he cannot marry her unless Terri is dead. It is a shame that there are men like Michael Schiavo in this world.
My Michael who knew about me for the last three years, has placed a ring on my finger, not caring what my body is like, but for who I am inside.
Michael Schiavo, will one day get his at the hands of the Lord and will suffer the same fate he has made his dear wife suffer.
May the Lord Jesus bless the soul of Terri Schiavo, who is now lying defenseless in a hospital bed, waiting to die, at the hands of her husband, who doesn't care for her anymore. Please for Michael Schiavo for all of his doubts, and sins he is committing in letting his wife Terri die, a horrible death. Lord Jesus, we know it is your will that when someone on earth leaves their body and goes home to you. But we also know that your will is not to make someone like Terri, starve to death, because of the voice of one man. If it is your will oh Lord that Terri should leave this earth, take her peacefully, and comfort her, and those who love her so much, as they will be saddened beyond tears. Dear God I ask that this be done in the name of Your only begotten Son, Jesus, who shall come to judge the living and the dead, and deliver us from evil. Amen.

Will Americans allow him. I think he may have committed his own social suicide. Making his own private hell. MacBeth style..
it's sad to see when someone disagrees with another's viewpoint they are belittled and insulted ...
excellent poem, Karla ... though i am ambivalent toward its premise ... perhaps they did agree on this type of decision together as husband and wife ... who knows? i always believe in giving the benefit of doubt ...
I understand what your saying, I'm just sick of the press politicizing it going after the president and his brother etc. instead of the husband who has it all in his hands to stop if he wanted to, by giving custody to the parents.Why is he so determined. It isn't the money they say most of it is gone. In my opinion he did something to her and is afraid that if she were to ever get well enough to talk she could tell on him. It may be only a slim chance, but he isn't willing to take it, so he wants her gone!
Well, I identify with it too much. On reason I went through with my divorce was because I knew I was ill and that my husband didn't give a damn. Didn't want decision about my health ever left up to him because I knew he didn't give a damn. He was already seeing his girlfriend and trying to cut me off her medical insurance, which he couldn't do. This whole Terri thing has us worked up, Karla. I'm glad you got it out. ~~Nordette

Well now he is denying them the right to bury their daughter the way that they want. In our state when death occurs the POA and guardianship ends. He is just rubbing it in their faces. My father was faithful to my mother and she to him. But they have forgotten the code of ethics that we had to learn from the Federal government.
DNR does not mean do not provide nurishment but then okay I am going to break my word.
Not only did our brother stay by his wife's side until her death, so did our Dad when our mother got sick. He stayed with her every minute until she died. Both my brother and Daddy understood "For better or for worse, in sickness and in health" better than anyone. I honor and respect them for holding true to love. I'm proud to say that they have found new loves and are happily remarried to wonderful women. Many don't find true love once--they are fortunate to have found it twice. :)
it is all so sad, karla...it just doesn't make any sense, but i agree with what you have to say. kenny our brother stayed by his sick wife's side, even to her death; why couldn't michael schiavo have done the same for terri? such a pity, really...and such a mess this whole thing is! a powerful and excellent write; thanks for sharing your thoughts!
