And if that's not bad enough, just take a trip to the gas pump! Believe me..I know this feeling well, and it's not a pleasant one. Personally I'm starting to have nightmares...

It's like this in Canada too. Everything is just sooo highly taxed, by the time we get our pay cheques it is like "nothing".

Gas prices "may" put drivers like me out of business, or so I would think. Now I think I should not have bought that Jeep, maybe a high mileage car would have been better...oh well, if prices go up higher, there will be less people on the roads, or I should say, I hope...! Ed

The writing was on the wall. No, it was more than on the wall, Bush warned the American people he was going to sell out to major corporations during the Gore/Bush debates. Unfortunately, too many Americans either didn't pay attention, wanted that three hundred dollar tax rebate (that went into the Bush/Cheney pockets via utility bills the first year), or still live in that pie-in-the-sky-american-dream-lala land of believing if they 'side' with the rich guys they might one day end up being one of them through osmosis or something. Until enough people are personally hungry enough to fight back, there's not much chance it'll get better. We are well on our way to becoming a third world country and it'll take a lot of time and effort (or another Clinton) to turn it around.

Blimey, tragic or what? Are there no laws governing these things US? Sounds to me like you have another role in life... that of speaking up at your place of work for a sense of fairplay... yes, I know, not always that simple is it, but this is a puzzle that shouldn't have to be worked out on a level playing field... peeps can't exist on thin air - unless accustomed to the heights - which, perhaps you are by now!
