Y'all ain't to blame. Just having problems with ME again. Keep me in your prayers?

I have looked the world over
in search of the enemy,
and have made this discovery -
it is I.
It is I who destroys my ego
with bombs of self doubt
that explode in colorful language and
pity parties.
It is I who rages against the machine
of what poetry is,
screaming at the top of my lungs, "I
can't do this!"
It is I who expels poison that
seeps into every area of my life,
choking the will to write, to dream, to hope
and to live.
It is I who is the terrorist ...
I don't have to go far to find her -
she stares back at me with my eyes from
the mirror.

How do I kill her?

(c) 2005, Karla Dorman.

Good write. A lot of the times we are our own worst enemy.

You can't be an enemy of yourself karla. If you were that, you would destroy your muse and wouldn't have been able to produce such high quality poems. To kill the enemy staring at you, don;t smash the mirror. Smile.

Awww, Karla, you are in my prayers! Beautiful, emotive write of self-searching, and know that in my eyes, you are one of the best here! You shine with your words, and you take us to new realms with your talent! NEVER give up and know that you ARE being read!! Thank God for EVERY review you DO get; I know I do!! Just write for YOU; don't worry about what everyone else may think!!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :(

A powerful blast of introspection and self-confrontation. Just the will to write such lines, I feel, would endow the poet and readers with renewed strength, clarity, and motivation. Thanks for sharing the courage and the power that surges through WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE.

A very interesting perspective, Karla - and I think all of us have far too many of these 'pity parties.'

Your mirror lies to you. Maybe like me you aint the best..(but that i don't wanna be..has traps of arrogance and pride) but like me you ain't the worse. (that is full of pity parties and self hate)
But you is in the best-est place. in the middle. see peeps on equal terms, have mutual respect for all gods creatures and a solid perspective on life.

Way to take responsibility.

I really enjoyed this and wish more of us would really look in the mirror.

As always I know what you do go thru here...we are kindred spirits in self-hatred, though I try to cover it up with humor...Find peace dear Friend, Ed

Sense your writing world as if it were a huge pile of raw lumber just there for you to create something better. And if you have too many irons in the fire, this may be your problem. You cannot write effectively on borrowed time. You must clear out space and time for writing because you cannot force the storm. She's ready when she's ready, but telephones, television, etc. are distractions. You have to continually tap the powers of your imagination. If you don't like what is staring back at you in the mirror, then change it. Karla, your head, heart, and gut have to work together on this thing we call writing.

You are not the enemy Karla...
The enemy is very real...and he is out there....stalking and hunting for prey all the time...his name is...Satan !

Karla you must learn to make your enemies your friends;-)Especially when they live within you, or you be in a whole lotta misery! So give her a name invite her to tea and kick the s..t out of her!lol
You always do just fine, but who can convince a perfectionist!;-)

Sweet Thing, don't murder her! Kill her with kindness, and live with her ON YOUR TERMS. The bitch will begin to enjoy working with you, and soon, will like living with you and liking you more 'n more. Try it. She'll like it..... - Bill
