Poem Artwork

The moon, inquisitive, never rude,
peeks over my shoulder
as we journey down the road;
I invite my friend along to
keep me company.
There is an understanding between
the moon and I,
as we talk about everything
and absolutely nothing at all.
It comprehends my moods, the moon,
waxing and waning with
each tidal turn of emotion;
all too soon, the walk is over ...
and at my porch, we part ways,
wishing each other well
until we see each other again.

(c) 2006, Karla Dorman.

There is somthing always comforting about the moon isn't there, perhaps it is the light it sheds on us or the fact that if the moon is visible it is a clear night, or perhaps because the moon is so connected with love and lovers. Either way you did a beautiful job on this one.

What a lovely friend you have, a good and patient listener too (have tried it, talked his ears off, that's why you don't see them :-))

Luna does me proud and her movements inspire my movements. Modern paganist feminist thought is that the Goddess represents the three phases of the female lifespan through the moon. New moon is the virgin, full moon is the sexually charged woman, and the old moon is the crone. I am at the full moon stage now, coinciding with my age and my libido! "There is an understanding between the moon and I." A line that I agree with at full phase, Karla!

God bless thee.

My children sang thid little ditty many times over the years. The moon is our guide and our shadow. It's an amazing friend.

Love this poem.

I'm a Child of the Moon too Karla, being a Cancer !
And yeh...us water signs are ruled by the Moon, just like the tides, our emotions are pulled this way and that way during the waxing and waning !
Great write with beautiful aliteration
