Poem Artwork

The one/two/three count knockout punches
come out of nowhere;
I never see the fists that lay me
out cold.
The one/two/three count, sinking fast kind
of panic drags me
under before I can draw in a
last breath.
The one/two/three counts pin me to the
mat, struggling like
a bug on its back who sees death on
a shoe.
But hope shines bright tomorrow; the sun
will shine again; I
firmly believe I am stronger than
defeat.

(c) 2006, Karla Dorman.

You gotta believe it... when the ol' one-two cuts in, then it's right back at it with the ol ten-nine-eight... and, ding-ding, you'll have won. Defeat is NOT in the Dorman Dictionary, THAT's for certain sure. Great overcoming pen, oh Lady of the Silver Punchbag... love and prayers, Kate xx

Karla, thy name is courage. It clearly shows in this write; all you can do is hope that tomorrow brings positiveness to your life; Lord knows, you certainly deserve it! Very well penned; brava!

No question here that these lines are much stronger than DEFEAT:-) The very source of their considerable creative energy shines like wings that seemingly lift the poet up from despair into inspired and determined victory.

We humans are resillient and we bounce back luike a Tonka truck.
You are a master of your mind. Think beauty as an alternative to pain and float above it. This works for mw.
My prayers are with you...especially in this heat!!
God bless you!
