Karen, my twin soul, is back home now. Weak, but on the mend, thanks to God and your caring prayers and encouragement.
The first poem, "She Came Back" reflects the joy I feel having her home. What a Christmas present! I need nothing else.
The second, "Crisis," I wrote the day she was transferred to the MICU unit after her blood pressure skyrocketed out of control. Almost lost her. A most frightening time, indeed. But God had other plans...and for that, I am grateful.
Please continue to pray for us. We'll be back as soon as we can. And then, watch the stories and poems flow!
She Came Back ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Late in autumn; before winter's advent, she came back, weaker, yet stronger than she'd been. From the sterile confines of hospital beds, numerous x-rays, lab tests counting numbers I didn't understand, from operating rooms, IV and NG tubes, monitor leads and oxygen prongs, from therapy, she came back -- she danced a fragile dance, but Death let her live. My twin soul, a survivor in the strongest sense of what that word means. Thank You, God, for giving her back to me. For letting her be my Christmas present, for letting her come home. For answered prayer. What more could I ask for?
(c) 2006, Karla Dorman. (12/7)
Crisis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My world, collapsed in a storm of sobbing; eyes, flash flooded with tears; straight-line winds of sorrow; tornadoes striking terror into the heart: she almost died today. My twin soul, uprooted by skyrocketing blood pressure, ripping the roof off of my comfort: Death came prowling. The foundation of my darkest nightmare exposed in negative images and poor prognosis of frightening reality: trembling; shaking. She almost died today. But now, she lays on sheets nearly as white as her, sound asleep; stable lines trace her life on monitor screens; she sleeps; she lives. Tested to the endurance of faith and endurance, I hear, "Breathe. Peace. She will not die today." Thank God.
I am glad that God let me live, not once, but twice. I am a miracle, and I am glad that I am home from the hospital! Thanks for being there for me in my time of need; you are an angel, and God is going to reward you handsomely when you get to Heaven; you can bank on that! :) Very powerful, emotional write that expresses the fear and relief during my tumultuous hospital stay! Very well done; brava, dear Twin! :)
(((HUGS))) and much love, your (recovering) twin sister, Karen Lynn. :D

The Angels are all singing a joyous chorus of Alleluia! And, oh how so sweet is the melody. Lots of hugs and kisses to both you and Karen.
It is said that this season is one of miracles, and that must be true becasue such bouquets of extraordinary wonder abound in your life during this painfully challenging time: the miracles of the love and loyalty that binds you to your soul mate; the miracle of the poetry that helps soothe the hurt of anxieties; and the miracle of divine presence that never abandons you.
May your "Christmas present" continue to recover and come back stronger than before, sustained in sturdiness of body, soundness of mind, and glowing beauty of spirit. Much Love, Peace, and Many Blessings to You Both Always,
Aberjhani
I started once to just start calling hospitals, but there were just so many. I've not let one day go by that I didn't send up multiple prayers, and will continue.
It's so good to see you have returned home, although not completely healed but well enough to be there. God is so very good.
Merry Christmas Twins...Merry Christmas.
Oh Karla, your poems just brought tears to my eyes, stay strong, so many are praying for you and your sister, Your poem really touched my heart so deeply. I am praying for you both, What a wonderful Christmas present,
God blesses so many everyday and he sees us through the dark paths and wills us to live way beyond Doctor's projections. You kept the vigil and you two were not shaken by pain but rebounded with God's glory arms and love. I am pround of you for the love, dedication and support you've given Karen. Your reward now is a fuller heart and God's hand upon your shoulder to say, "Good job little sister. Job well done." I'm proud of you and she and so is HE! Karen is powerful after going through all this and you are dearer for your diligence. My prayers are with you two.
Prayers, love and welcome back!
Susan
A very emotional roller-coaster write. These poems reminds me of the poems I wrote about my dad's.- Everyday is an emotional war within oneself. I just know how you must feel. I wish there is some ways I can make you feel better to ease your pain. It will not be an easy battle for Karen, but I wish her strength to fight and come out a winner.
My prayers are with both of you. Take very good care of yourselves!
Amen to this testimonial write filled with the emotional pulses from one feat to the next! You have been in our prayers and I wish you both, a very Merry Blessed Christmas...looks like Santa delivered your presents early! Smiles!

Thank the Lord, everyone's prayers have been answered, and what wonderful news you've brought us, Karla! I agree with you, what more could anyone want for Christmas? Bless you, sweet friend! Great news!

Both of these poems ripped at my heart and put my pulse in my throat, Karla. We know that the both of you are scribes and poets, but I am utterly in awe of your ability here to put into words such excesses of raw emotion at this time. What a roller-coaster ride, and one I can surely identify with. You have given us all the drama without a hint of overstatement or hype. The effect is powerful. Death came prowling, but death let her live - Praise God! These words, for me, say it all. So immediate and visual. Needless to say, my love and prayers are with you both. If hugs could feed, nuture and heal, then you would both be doing the London Marathon next week! Keep smiling through your tears of gratitude and relief. We are right with you. LOLOL K xx
When these types of crisis strike, we really learn what is important in our lives and we also learn the power of prayer as we sit feeling powerless within ourselves over the fate of our most precious gifts in life, our loved ones. It must be doubly difficult for a twin, as I have so often heard and also as I heard from a friend as his twin brother died in his arms...a piece of him also died, his bond with his twin stronger than any other in life. I thank God for saving Karen and for saving you in the process, as well. A most wonderful Christmas present, indeed.
Take care,
Sherry
This is the finest gift of news I have heard in weeks. It is good to know that Karens sojourn here is not yet completed. Blessings and love to both of you. I feel the next season for you both will be your most powerful.
I peered into my dream vessel, a calabash gourd and chanted a goddess prayer for Karen Lynn, and spoke to the "grandmothers" and then I lit a Colorado harvested sage smudge stick and pointed it toward the heavens, Karla...Blessed Be...
