I've just learned of Connie Hinnen Cook's passing...my sympathies and prayers to her family...to our family, who lost a great poet and friend...
The hours have done their job; who is that staring back at me through haunted -- old -- eyes? I don't recognize her, then, again, she seems vaguely familiar, the woman in the mirror: I know I've seen her somewhere, I just don't remember when............

Time is aging and deep inside there are times when we see older than what othera see in us.
Forever young is why the heart is resillient to thpse who believe.

Ah, Karla, it's not the shell that tells you who you are, it's the soul behind the window of your eyes. So, take another look through that window...there you will find the real you.

Your friend's face will be in your vision for a while. Such is life. Victor
I heard a woman say once that after we turn 45 we should take all of the mirrors off of the wall...I thought about this and mentioned to a lady whom I consider to be very wise, my mother. She said, no that to enjoy life we must see things for what they are, and that includes ourself. She also added just to be thankful for the day, I agree, even though there are times I wonder if my mirror is telling lies or speeding up time....

Oh do I hear you! Getting a closer look in the mirror is frightening, but something we all have to face.
Geez oh man, I wonder that each time I look in the mirror. In my head I still feel like a kid, but it's certainly not a kid in the mirror LOL. Excellent poem, Karla!
